Philip Morganelli resides in Placerville, California with his wife and three cats.

He makes enigmata (two dimensional largely-abstract artworks occupying the realm between painting and sculpture) in the basement of a 19th century Victorian using a modified Dewalt scroll saw. Minimal if any use of pattern is employed, allowing each piece to unfurl with arcane and organic intent.

The goal of these enigmata is tension: their position within glass framing a sacrosanct aesthetic while their jigsaw puzzle ancestry invites a palpable playfulness.  All mounting is reversible, individual components connected by the mere pressure of their peers.

In addition to the art featured on this website, Philip produces traditional jigsaw puzzles under the imprint Turning Taxis Handcut Puzzles. These works are also single edition.
